India Hindu Militants Attack Christians For Singing Christmas Carols; Church Burnt Down

By BosNewsLife News Center, December 28th, 2006

Evangelical Christians in central and eastern India were recovering from injuries Wednesday, December 27, after Hindu militants attacked them for singing Christmas carols while elsewhere a church was completely destroyed, Christian leaders said.

Pastor James Ram reportedly said the troubles began at The Church of God in Jalanpur village in the central state of Chhattisgarh after church members and students of its Bible

school started a week-long Christmas program.

"They started on the 21th [of Dec- ember] distributing free gifts of New Testaments in several [nearby] villages. On [December] 23 they did this in their [own] village," the pastor said in a statement distributed by the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC).

But their activities were noticed by local militant Hindu groups. "On 24th at about noon [local time] some activists of the Bajrang Dal and the Dharam Raksha Sena [groups] burnt some of the Bibles in public in the centre of town..."

China Jails House Church Christians; Suspends Prison Sentence Christian Lawyer

By BosNewsLife News Center, December 26th, 2006

Most, if not all, eight prom- inent house church Christians in China’s eastern Zhejiang province prepared to spend Christmas behind bars Saturday, December 23, after they were sentenced to prison sentences of up to 3.5 years, fellow believers said.

The People’s Court of Xiaoshan District in the provincial capital Hangzhou city sentenced the

believers late Friday, December 22 after an "almost 12-hour marathon pre-Christmas trial," said religious rights group China Aid Association (CAA).

They were accused of inciting violent resistance to the law after they protested the government’s destruction of a church. The seven men and one woman from Zhejiang were arrested after about 3,000 Christians in Xiaoshan, a prospering commercial suburb of the provincial capital Hangzhou, demonstrated against the demolition of their mega-church in July.

Group from India 'descended from Joseph' arrives in Jewish state

Right On: A miracle of biblical proportions

by Michael Freund, The Jerusalem Post, October 4th, 2006

In a few weeks' time, Sara Haunhar will at last fulfill a lifelong dream, one that she has been nurturing for over the past eight decades.

Together with her daughter Miriam, and some 216 other members of the Bnei Menashe of northeastern India,

the 84-year old widow will board a charter flight next month, and finally begin the long journey home to Zion.

It is a voyage that began many centuries ago - 27, to be exact - when the Assyrian empire invaded the Land of Israel and cast most of our people into the darkest recesses of the exile.

A new 10-nation survey of Pentecostal and charismatic Christians, considered the fastest- growing stream of Christianity worldwide, shows they are deeply influencing the Roman Catholic and mainstream Protestant churches and are poised to

Some 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometres) east of Moscow, an elderly group of Jews are gathered around a dinner table, talking animatedly in a mixture of Russian and Yiddish.

Focus On Israel: The Sanhedrin Reestablished (Part III)

by Dov Gilor, The Jewish Press, June 7th, 2006

The new Sanhedrin first met in Tiberius because it was foretold that it would be renewed there and would be relocated to Jerusalem. That is exactly what has been done. At first, the names of many of those ordained were withheld, to avoid strong public pressure on them to renounce their membership. Today, more and more names have been made public as understanding of the importance of the Sanhedrin increases. The rabbis believe that they are performing an important mitzva rather than searching for fame or honor. The attitude of some of their colleagues is proof that honor is not the goal.

There is also a concern that the increasingly "non-Jewish" and "anti-Jewish" rulings handed down by the Israeli Supreme Court underscore the immediate need for an alternative legal system based on Torah and Talmud. While, at least in one instance, an Israeli court deferred to a ruling of the new Sanhedrin, the long-term effect of a religious Sanhedrin is yet to be seen.

Gavriel in Papua New Guinea with an indigenous Bible-translation team

Israel invites: Come Grow With Us

by Gavriel Gefen, Keren HaShlichut, September, 2006

Five years ago, I first met some of the protectors of the vision of the World Christian Gathering on Indigenous People. Later, I participated in and taught at both WCGIP 2002 in Hawaii and WCGIP 2005 in Sweden. This circle of relationships has had a profound impact on my life.

I am a Messianic Jewish Israeli. I am Jewish by birth, and Messianic by re-birth in the Messiah Yeshua (known by some as Jesus). I am Israeli, but was born in the United States. In 1973, my whole family came to faith in Yeshua. Ten years later, in 1983, we immigrated back to Israel as a family. I was seventeen years old. I later met my wife Tzofia in Israel. We now have four children and live in central Jerusalem.

Malaysia: tension, appeasement and restriction
- Malaysians debate the religious freedom status of Muslims:
is it defined by the Constitution or the Sharia?

by Elizabeth Kendall, World Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission (WEA RLC)

via ASSIST News Service
, August 11th, 2006

AUSTRALIA (ANS) -- RLP 384 (June Update) requested prayer for a critical court case in Malaysia. Lina Joy (42), who was born Azlina Jailani to Malay parents, converted from Islam to Christianity when she was 26. The National Registry Department consented to changing her name on her ID card but told Lina she had to get a certificate from the Sharia Court to show she had permission to convert to Christianity, as Malaysian law required a Muslim's religious matters to be decided in a Sharia (Islamic) Court. However according to traditional Islamic Law apostasy (leaving Islam) is not a Muslim's right – it is a capital offence.

As long as Lina is officially identified as a Muslim she is legally compelled to marry a Muslim man in a Muslim ceremony and be subject to Islamic Laws, including Islamic family law. So Lina has been fighting for her rights. In 2001 the High Court refused to rule on her case. In September 2005 the High Court dismissed her appeal, so Lina's counsel is now challenging the decision in the Federal Court. The Federal Court ruling will clarify whether the religious freedom of Malaysia's Muslims is determined by the Constitution (which gives liberty) or the Sharia (which denies it). At the time of writing RLP 384, the decision was pending. Two months later, the decision is still pending.

Prophetic Word:
‘Israel - First of all First Nations’

by Kenny Blacksmith, Gathering Nations international, August 9th, 2006

About eight years ago, in a dream I, Kenny saw Louise along with other First Nation and Inuit people armed with sickles, moving quickly, gathering and bundling sheaves of wheat. Suddenly, I recognized the landscape and the architecture of the buildings around us - we were in Israel. I then came to a huge gate, and I knew beyond the gate I would find a field ready for the harvest.

In anticipation, I knocked on the gate and out came a servant of whom I asked to see the master of the house. The servant left and the master of the house came out to the gate. I knew deep inside me this was the Messiah - Yeshua. I couldn't see his face but I could see his pure white garment. He asked me what I wanted, to which I replied, "Master, if you will, please open the gate that I may come in." He opened the gate, and said to me, "Come, I want to show you my garden."

Jews and Arabs on the Same Side of the Fence

Israel Today, May 22nd, 2006

It was an unlikely coalition: Jews from an adjacent Jerusalem suburb banded together in a court case with residents of an Arab neighborhood who wanted to remain together on the Israeli side of the security barrier. The proposed route of the fence threatened to slice off a small enclave of the Arab neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber in East Jerusalem.

Arab residents sought the help of an Israeli human rights group to reroute the fence so the village—partly in Israeli territory and party in Palestinian—would remain united. Rabbis for Human Rights, which opposes the fence in areas where Arab-owned land is expropriated, Palestinians are cut off from their fields, and villages are divided, took up the case.

Arad, Israel: Sunday’s Meeting and
Wednesday’s Molotov Cocktails

RedHorse, March 24th, 2006

Today, Wednesday,

We saw the results of Sunday's meeting in full swing. When Eddie got to the Chess Club in the morning, he saw that during the night someone had thrown a Molotov Cocktail, (a bottle filled with flammable liquid which is lit and thrown at the area where the thrower wants to burn), at the outside wall of the Club. Although no one was there and no real damage was caused, this was definitely a very dangerous act, as it could have burned the place down again!

Eddie called the police who came quickly this time and investigated the situation with care ... This too is an answer to prayer, as we have seen in the past how sometimes they seem to take the side of the Religious in their fight with us, whom they call, "The Missionaries", and sometimes even refuse to take our complaints.

The biggest part of the story of today though, (Wednesday), is what happened this afternoon...I went to the Club to see if Eddie was there at about 4pm. He wasn't, but the police were there again, this time with a Religious guy who had thrown a few other Molotov Cocktails on the outside of the building, while many chess players were both inside and outside playing their games. Again, miraculously thank God, no one was injured and no real damage was caused.

The First Peoples Summit 2006 will be a follow up to the First Peoples Summit held on December 2-4, 2005 in Ottawa where some 90 First Nations, Inuit and Métis pastors and leaders came together to pray, fellowship, worship and seek after the Father's heart. A timely and refreshing 'baptismal of love' was experienced beyond our understanding, imagination or expectation, propelling each one into a depth of being loved and released with a supernatural ability to express love, forgiveness and healing in Christ.

Reconciliation, healing, unity, identity, faith in God was restored and released with and in the First Peoples of Canada to truly embrace nations, the Church in Canada, and Canada as our homeland.

Reflection and dialogue was based on what the spiritual, social, economic, political life and relations were like long before the arrival of the 'Whiteman', before the Church and before governments were established in our lands? Did our people commit sin - idolatry, immorality, bloodshed or break covenants with one another?

The oldest seed ever brought back to life

An Extinct Biblical Plant returns to Life

Israel Today, March 4th, 2006

Israeli scientists have germinated a sapling from a date palm seed that is nearly 2,000 years old! "We are interested in preserving very valuable species in the Middle East," Dr. Sarah Sallon, who heads the project, told israel today.

"Some of them are extinct but may be able to be resurrected." Sallon, who works at the Louis Borick Natural Medicine Research Center in Jerusalem, said it is the oldest seed ever brought back to life. Until now, the oldest species to be revived came from a 1,200-year-old lotus seed that was germinated in China.

The palm seed was found at the historic fortress of Masada near the Dead Sea, where 960 Jewish zealots chose suicide over capture by the Romans in 73 A.D. "We managed to get a few of these seeds, and we planted them, and some six or seven weeks later a bud appeared," said Sallon.

First Nations pastor plans Jerusalem ‘embassy’ by Myron Love

The Canadian Jewish News, December 22, 2005

WINNIPEG — In the wake of a recent visit by B’nai Brith Canada and Israeli representatives to two First Nations communities in remote northern Manitoba, Winnipeg pastor Raymond McLean is making plans to move to Jerusalem and open a "First Nations Embassy" with himself as the first ambassador.

The Ahenakew affair was the catalyst for closer relations of late between Jews and native people, said Alan Yusim, director of B’nai Brith’s Winnipeg office.

After First Nations leader David Ahenakew praised Hitler to a reporter in 2002, saying the Nazi dictator “fried” six million Jews to prevent Jews from taking over the world, B’nai Brith contacted Manitoba First Nations leaders and educators and arranged for a First Nations mission to Israel.

Palestinian Connection: A Tale of Mercy

Israel Today, December 13th, 2005

Israeli troops on a raid in the town of Jenin in Samaria shot a 12-year-old Palestinian boy who was carrying a toy M-16 assault rifle. The army said soldiers were caught in an exchange of fire, and they mistook the boy, Ahmed Ismail Khatib, for a terrorist.

Israel apologized for what it described as a “tragic mistake.” The boy was rushed to an Israeli hospital where doctors fought for his life, but he died two days later. Then, in an incredible gesture of reconciliation, the child’s family decided to donate his organs to Israeli children!

From Rasta to Disciple by Mike Rimmer

Cross Rhythms, October 16, 2005

Reggae gospel singer, JUDY MOWATT, talked to Mike Rimmer about her years with Bob Marley and the reggae superstar's deathbed conversion to Christianity:

Judy Mowatt on Bob Marley's deathbed conversion

When she became a Christian in the mid-’90s amidst a wave of other successful reggae artists finding Christian faith like Papa San, Stitchie, Chevelle Franklin and Carlene Davis. After her performance, I ask her what she thinks Marley would have made of her conversion. It was here that she made my jaw drop!

She shared, "When Bob was on his dying bed, his wife Rita called me on the phone and said to me that Bob was in such excruciating pain and he stretched out his hand and said, ‘Jesus take me.’ I was wondering to myself, ‘Why is it that Bob said "Jesus" and not "Selassie"?’ But I never said it to anyone. Then I met a friend of mine and he said his sister, who is a Christian, was a nurse at the hospital where Bob was before he passed on, and she led him to the Lord Jesus Christ. So when Rita saw him saying ‘Jesus take me’, he had already received the Lord Jesus Christ in his life."

Three Believers talk about the Gaza Pullout by Aviel Schneider

Israel Today, October 09, 2005

Israel Today editor, Aviel Schneider, spoke to three leaders in the Body of Messiah about the Gaza pullout:

Neve Dekalim before and after the evacuation

David Parsons, public relations director of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem:
The withdrawal wasn’t easy to watch. Families of several generations were uprooted. The settlers need our prayers, and as Christians, we will help the nation get through this.

Meno Kalisher, Israeli pastor of Jerusalem Assembly House of Redemption;
The enemies believe that Allah and Mohammad have won the war, but biblically, I know that God is always right. When Jews are forced to withdraw from their Land, it is only because they have a problem with God. I do not believe in political problems, but rather in spiritual problems.

and Naim Khoury, Palestinian pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bethlehem.
From a biblical perspective, I believe Israel should not have left that area.

Original Peoples, Common Interests: First Nations chiefs visit Israel by Paul Lungen

First Nations of Manitoba: "Remembering the Holocaust of Our Peoples"
by Joel Molin

Northern Connections, Manitoba, May 05, 2005

The Present, where Prophecy meets History.

The Jewish Nation, a people group who have kept detailed written accounts of their history and culture, somehow knew in their spirit that accurate records of events in their lives needed to be recorded for the generations to come. Stories of tremendous victories, losses, decisions made - both good & bad - and the consequences that followed them.

Embedded into their writings were prophetic words that told stories of what the world would experience in the coming future, concerning their nation and the world around them. These prophetic writings came by inspiration from the Creator’s Spirit, whereby the writer relates events in picture stories and by declarations, long before the events would come to pass.

Turin shroud ‘older than thought’

BBC NEWS, UK, January 31, 2005

Tests in 1988 concluded the cloth was a medieval 'hoax' The Shroud of Turin is much older than suggested by radiocarbon dating carried out in the 1980s, according to a new study in a peer-reviewed journal.

A research paper published in Thermochimica Acta suggests the shroud is between 1,300 and 3,000 years old.

The author dismisses 1988 carbon-14 dating tests which concluded that the linen sheet was a medieval fake.

The shroud, which bears the faint image of a blood-covered man, is believed by some to be Christ's burial cloth.

Raymond Rogers says his research and chemical tests show the material used in the 1988 radiocarbon analysis was cut from a medieval patch woven into the shroud to repair fire damage.
